Kenya
Journal
This journal was written by the 32 students of the Class of Fall 1994, School for Field Studies, Kenya. Each day, one student would write an entry and then pass the journal on to the next student for the next day. That was the idea, at least, as the system wasn't always executed perfectly. Sometimes, a journal entry was just a log of the day's events. Other times, students waxed poetically about their awe and wonder about Kenya. All the entries form a compilation of diverse perspectives, voices, and attitudes.
I actually had not read most of the journal until I started to work on this section. Since the content is a bit specialized, it may not be interesting for the general public. On the other hand, for me, reading the journal after all this time has recalled many lost memories. I had forgotten how lucky I was. Reading this journal helped to rekindle my appreciation of Kenya. Futhermore, I am once again left with incredible disbelief that Kenya has percolated my mind and body, and yet, today I am not dramatically changed from my same old self.
